PPCA Recycling
Propanephosphonic cyclic anhydride (PPCA) is a widely used coupling agent with a market of ca. 500 metric tons per annum. Compared with other coupling agents PPCA offers a number of process advantages including low toxicity, low epimerization, and high yields and selectivities. It is also being readily soluble in common organic solvents and yet the spent reagent may be removed by a water wash. There are currently very few suppliers of this material at bulk scale.
Celtic Catalysts has developed and patented a methodology whereby PPCA can be recovered and reused from aqueous waste stream.
