Julie lost 100 lbs on Nutrisystem and has kept it off for over a year now. Watch her interview with Dana Schultz.
Dana, with DietInReview.com, spoke with Julie Knapp, a woman from Los Angeles, California, on her weight loss transformation and experience she had with Nutrisystem. In the beginning
Julie’s starting weight when she moved to Los Angeles was 234 pounds, at the age of 23, which was 2 years ago. When Dana asked her how much she was able to lose with Nutrisystem, and if it was a lengthier or shorter process, Julie answered, “In just about a year, I lost over 100 pounds, and I have kept it off for a year so far." Pretty amazing!
What I learned from Nutrisystem
Dana: With so many weight loss programs out there, what was key about Nutrisystem that helped you succeed?
Julie: My two big issues with food and my weight were portion control and also eating out at restaurants for lunch 3-4 times a week, and dinner at least 3 times a week. When you eat out, you don’t know how much you’re eating, or what they’re putting in your food. I like volume; to eat a lot. I used to think, well I ’m eating a lot of baked chips, and because they’re baked, that’s fine, but when you’re eating an entire bag of that, it nullifies it.
Nutrisystem took the measuring out. They say, this is what you’re having for breakfast, and it’s all measured out. For lunch, they give you what you’re eating, and how much of it, and you’re full after. And you learn to listen to your body and learn the difference between being just bored and being actually hungry because you only have 3 meals and 1 snack to eat, so you learn to wait until you’re really hungry to eat. It took about a week to get used to, but after that, it was fine.
How Nutrisystem changed My eating habits
Dana: What did you take away from Nutrisystem? You’re not on Nutrisystem anymore, correct?”
Julie: Yes, I haven’t been on Nutrisystem for a year, and the biggest takeaway is knowing when you're hungry and when you're full. It never occurred to me previously; if I was sitting around, then it was like hey, why not, let’s just eat, but now I can listen to my body and my stomach say Julie, it’s time to eat right now, I’m hungry, and then I hear it say, okay, you can stop now, I’m full. And of course I snack, but I keep chopped up vegetables and fruits around, because I like snacking. And having produce out to snack on is so much better than all the junk food. But, you need to be hyperaware of everything in body because it’s a slippery slope.
