Celtic Catalysts announces the launch of the world’s best asymmetric hydrogenation catalyst.

November 18th 2009, Dublin, IRELAND. Dublin company Celtic Catalysts today announced the launch of a new catalyst based upon its proprietary P-chiral Cel-PHOS P* ligand.  With particular application in the hydrogenation of enamides to form amino acids the rhodium complex of the Cel-PHOS P* ligand routinely gives 99.5% ee with spectacularly low catalyst loadings (substrate to catalyst loadings of >100,000:1).

Commenting on this new development, Chief Scientific Officer Declan Gilheany said “I have been involved in the development of a number of successful catalysts and catalytic systems in the past, but this catalyst is by far the most impressive in terms of its ease of use and the selectivity and turnover numbers it achieves.  I am looking forward to the continued expansion of its range of industrially useful applications”
